American Promise (AP) is a group with active chapters (including ROAD) in 17 states. AP is focused on getting a 28th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution to counter the effects of the "Citizens United" SCOTUS decision of 2010.

Michiganders for Fair and Transparent Elections

Michiganders for Fair and Transparent Elections (MIFTE), based in Michigan's capitol, Lansing, MI and is a affiliated with American Promise. They can be found here on Facebook

  • The groups above are nonpartisan and the main ones with which we work, in Michigan and beyond. We and they are focused on getting big & dark money out of politics, campaign finance reform, and a 28th Amendment to counter Citizens United, et al.

  • While some of those below include campaign finance reform in their goals, the are  also democracy movements. Since reclaiming our democracy is in our name, we acknowledge and support them, and we often cooperate with each other.

  • We're all in this together.

SUMMARY: Formed in September 2009, Move to Amend is a coalition of hundreds of organizations and hundreds of thousands of individuals committed to social and economic justice, ending corporate rule, and building a vibrant democracy that is genuinely accountable to the people, not corporate interests.

We are calling for the #WeThePeopleAmendment to the US Constitution that unequivocally states that inalienable rights belong to human beings only, and that money is not a form of protected free speech under the First Amendment and can be regulated in political campaigns.

The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan national organization with very active and effective, state and local groups and activities. Learn more here, on their Michigan website.

VNP is best known for their powerful grass roots effort in Michigan that resulted in a ballot proposal creating an independent citizen's redistricting commission to do away with gerrymandering. See more about VNP here.

local ones with whom we have met.

"Citizens’ Climate Lobby is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, grassroots advocacy climate change organization focused on national policies to address climate change. We exist to create the political will for climate change solutions by enabling individual breakthroughs in the exercise of personal and political power."

DECLARATION FOR AMERICAN DEMOCRACY is a coalition of over 200 member organizations.

Our coalition includes groups from the labor, racial justice, faith, women’s rights, environmental, good government, and many other important communities. Formed in 2018, we set out on a mission to take back our democracy and restore power to the people. We believe that we must build a democracy where everyone participates, every vote is counted, and everyone’s voice is heard.
